Dr. Adolphus Sowemimo commences his postgraduate specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology in England, beginning with a post as Senior House Officer at Tameside General Hospital in Ashton-under-Lyne, where he reported directly to the consultant in obstetrics and gynecology. In a more senior trainee position, Dr. Sowemimo was appointed as a Senior House Officer at City General Hospital in Carlisle. He accepted the position of Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the St Mary’s Hospital in Newport, Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading, and Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Welwyn Garden City. Through these positions, Dr. Adolphus Sowemimo gained administrative experience by organizing medical staff rosters, quarterly clinical audit meetings, and perinatal mortality meetings. In addition, he researched Kliogest, a drug for treating menopausal symptoms, as well as the usage of prophylactic aspirin to prevent hypertension that results from pregnancy. At the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Newfoundland, Canada, Dr. Adolphus Sowemimo functioned as a Consultant Obstetrician-Gynecologist with full clinical and administrative duties.
