Dr. Alan 's Status Updates

Dr. Alan Matarasso graduated with magna cum laude honors from Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts. After receiving his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine in 1979, Dr. Alan Matarasso served as Intern, Resident, and subsequently Chief Resident in Montefiore Medical Center’s Department of General Surgery. Dr. Alan Matarasso then spent two years in Montefiore Medical Center’s Department of Plastic Surgery before moving to the New York University Medical Center’s Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery as an Aesthetic Surgery Fellow in 1985. A year later, Dr. Alan Matarasso earned his certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery. At present, Dr. Alan Matarasso serves as a Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, which is associated with the Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Alan Matarasso has previously served as a Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery, an Associate Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery, and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at the same institution. In addition to his work as an educator, Dr. Alan Matarasso currently acts as a surgeon at the Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital, St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Alan Matarasso also worked as an Attending Surgeon at Beth Israel North Hospital for 16 years until it closed in 2004. A Senior Editor of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal, Dr. Alan Matarasso also reviews manuscripts for the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Annals of Plastic Surgery, Perspectives in Plastic Surgery, The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the Journal of the American Medical Association, and Springer-Verlag, now Springer Science+Business Media. Dr. Alan Matarasso now serves as a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Progressive Clinical Insights and has previously edited pieces for www.eMedicine.com, Aesthetic Surgery and Medicine, the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, and Lasers in Surgery and Medicine.
