The Toronto Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology, Dr. Alexander MacGregor
October, 2010
By: Dr. Alexander MacGregor
Throughout my academic studies, I focused my energy on studying chemistry and pharmacology at renowned institutions such as the University of Wales, the University of London, and the University of Liverpool. Since 1893, the University of Wales has been committed to providing higher education to its community members while preserving the culture, environment, and economy of Wales. Cardiff University, a branch of the University of Wales since its inception, opened the Welsh School of Medicine in 1931. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Medical Biochemistry from the University of Wales’ Cardiff University. For my Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Pharmacology, I attended the University of London’s Royal Postgraduate Medical School. Starting in the British Postgraduate Medical School’s Hammersmith Hospital, the Royal Postgraduate Medical School was established in 1935 and operated as its own entity until 1997, when it was absorbed by the Imperial College School of Medicine. Pursuing additional educational experiences, I enrolled in the European Continuing Education College within the University of Liverpool to acquire a Master-Class Certificate in Pharmaceutical Technology. Upon completing my education, I turned my attention to founding my own academic institution in Canada in 1992. Since then, I have dedicated my time and resources to the development of the Toronto Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology, which became the first privately operated post-graduate school of pharmacy registered by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

ORx Pharmaceutical Corporation, Dr. Alexander MacGregor
June, 2011
For almost a decade, Dr. Alexander MacGregor has served as the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Security Officer of ORx Pharmaceutical Corporation, which maintains close ties to the Toronto Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology (TIPT). Dr. Alexander MacGregor founded TIPT to provide quality post-graduate training in a variety of pharmaceutical fields, including drug delivery systems and other innovative technologies. A decade after TIPT’s inception, Dr. Alexander recognized a rising need for a pharmaceutical company that could forge revolutionary drug delivery systems for newly developed, promising drugs. He subsequently established ORx, a patient-focused company that strives to increase the oral bioavailability of these substances and engineer novel technologies that ensure medicine is delivered to the correct site at an appropriate rate.
Today, ORx works with both recently approved medicines and established medicines, guaranteeing that their delivery systems function at the optimal level. Through its efforts, ORx provides for the continued efficacy of important drug therapies. Placing the patient before all else, ORx aims to ease the suffering of those living with chronic or acute diseases. ORx thoroughly tests its products, bringing safe and reliable mechanisms to the market as efficiently as possible. The company’s primary objectives include delivering convenient, advantageous products to segments of the population most in need of better drug delivery technology and providing peace of mind to physicians who continually worry about drug efficacy.
For more information about the research and development that ORx conducts, as well as its prior contributions to drug delivery systems, visit www.orxpharmaceuticals.com.
