Since beginning his research on the risks of contraception, Dr. Dominic Pedulla has uncovered an increasing amount of evidence that suggests women should consider alternate birth control options. Dr. Pedulla surmises that women coping with menstruation-triggered depression and similar mood disorders suffer due to their choice to use contraceptives to avoid becoming pregnant. Disturbed by findings that birth control is capable of causing cardiovascular problems, Dr. Pedulla encourages his patients to consider the negative aspects of contraceptive dependence.

Many professional practitioners in the medical community agree that tubal sterilization, a common surgical birth control method, contributes to the likelihood that a woman will require a hysterectomy later in life. Additionally, there is evidence suggesting that 75% of hysterectomies in the United States and Europe are unnecessary, potentially resulting in cardiac arrest. Likewise, certain autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus affect women at a markedly higher rate than they do men. Recent research, although still in its early stages, points to a correlation between emotional distress and physical illness. Currently, there is no conclusive evidence that negative feelings are capable of producing physically damaging antibodies, yet many physicians and psychologists support the notion. Taking this into account, Dr. Pedulla continues to search for answers regarding the toll that contraception takes on a woman’s emotional and mental health. Dr. Pedulla is also looking into contraception’s ability to trigger the growth of cancerous cells in a woman’s breast tissue and reproductive organs, as well as the relationship between past contraceptive use and failed pregnancy.

Every year, billions of dollars are spent in the fight against breast cancer, coronary artery disease, depression, infertility, and numerous other seemingly unconnected women’s health issues. Firmly believing that contraception is the root cause of many of these ailments, Dr. Dominic Pedulla is pioneering the campaign to support non-contraceptive methods of birth control.
