Dr. George Bernato believes strongly in the power of mental fitness. A licensed professional counselor in the state of Pennsylvania, Dr. Bernato has been a dedicated and innovative asset to the mental health community since beginning his practice in 1981.

Dr. Bernato is a highly certified psychotherapist and has received credentials from some of America’s most recognized institutions. He earned a Master of Education in Counseling in 1981, and continued on to complete a Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology in 1986. Additionally, Dr. Bernato completed advanced training from the Albert Ellis Institute, post-doctorate Jungian analytic training from the C.G. Jung Institutes of Minneapolis and Philadelphia, as well as from the Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis. He is also a Board Certified Professional
Counselor conferred by the American Psychotherapy Association.

Dr. George Bernato’s practice, Eranos Counseling, is located in the historic district of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At Eranos, Dr. Bernato focuses his treatments on a Jungian combination of traditional talk therapy and other modern modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and Sandplay. He strives to offer a compassionate and creative approach to psychotherapy, tackling destructive, yet common adult depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress. Furthermore, Dr. Bernato works closely with adults who have struggled independently with mental illness in pursuit of the treatment they need and deserve.

George Bernato belongs to numerous professional organizations. He holds membership in the American Psychological Association, the American Counseling Association, the National Association for Advancement of Psychoanalysis, the American Psychotherapy Association, and the Pennsylvania Counseling Association. In addition, Dr. Bernato was recognized for his expertise with his induction to the National Distinguished Service Registry in January of 1990.
