About Dr Jamokay Taylor

Jamokay Taylor, MD, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), serves as the Medical Director of the Warrenton Weight Loss Institute, an affiliate of Barix Clinics in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Dr. Jamokay Taylor consults with patients on bariatric surgery options and performs a wide range of advanced laparoscopic procedures.

Dr. Jamokay Taylor studied at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences in 1995 before enrolling at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Upon graduation, Dr. Jamokay Taylor entered into a general surgery residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.

Following his residency, Dr. Jamokay Taylor accepted several concurrent positions in the Detroit area. In 2004, Dr. Jamokay Taylor joined the Center for Obesity Related Illness (CORI), St. John Detroit Riverview Hospital, and the Detroit Medical Center’s (DMC) Sinai-Grace Hospital. Dr. Jamokay Taylor continues to perform trauma surgery at Sinai-Grace.

In 2005, Dr. Jamokay Taylor also started a private general surgery practice at DMC Harper University Hospital, a large, academic tertiary care center that is one of the highest ranked hospitals in the United States. Dr. Jamokay Taylor maintains his practice at DMC Harper University Hospital in addition to his current practice.

Prior to joining the Warrenton Weight Loss Institute, Dr. Jamokay Taylor spent two years at the American Bariatric Medicine Institute, performing open gastric bypass surgeries and several other weight loss treatments. Dr. Jamokay Taylor is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association and the Michigan State Medical Society. In his spare time, Dr. Jamokay Taylor enjoys tennis, cycling, and other sports.
