Since 1994, Dr. John Seasholtz has applied his expertise in sedation and advanced general dentistry to care for patients at Comfort Care Dental in Tallahassee, Florida. In addition to this role, he serves on the staff of Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, where he provides treatment for more complex cases. Previously, Dr. Seasholtz earned a Doctor of Medical Dentistry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry, then completed an accredited program in advanced restorative dentistry.

As a sedation dentist, Dr. John Seasholtz offers alternatives for patients with extreme anxiety or those with no time for multiple appointments. Nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas,” relaxes patients with lower levels of anxiety. In oral conscious sedation, Dr. Seasholtz administers one or more pills. The patient remains conscious and can even answer simple requests, but feels no fear or anxiety and generally retains little or no memory of the visit. For IV conscious sedation, the dentist provides sedative medications intravenously, providing a quicker response time for the medication to take effect and offering more control over the level and length of sedation.

At Comfort Care Dental, Dr. John Seasholtz employs the latest technology, including an intraoral camera with a fiber-optic wand that produces vivid images from inside the mouth, allowing patients to see what the dentist does. The Cavitrons, an ultrasonic power scaler, cleans teeth more thoroughly in a shorter period of time than traditional hand tools. The OralCDx BrushTest, a digital brush-biopsy system, helps Dr. Seasholtz to detect oral cancer in its earliest stages. The ViziLite test kit also assists in detecting abnormalities not always apparent in a visual examination.

Offering cosmetic dentistry, Dr. John Seasholtz provides the advanced, light-activated Zoom! process for teeth whitening and the newest veneer-fabrication technology, which requires minimal preparation of tooth surfaces. Additional procedures include bonding to fill gaps between teeth and enamel shaping or contouring, which can slightly reshape a tooth, smooth rough edges, and correct minor overcrowding. At Comfort Care Dental, Dr. Seasholtz also replaces gold and silver fillings with a tooth-colored material, lightening them up in the process.
