Clayton completed her undergraduate studies in psychology at The University of Oklahoma and in 1984 she applied and was accepted into The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. Dr. Lisa K. Clayton completed the first two years of her medical education at The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and went on to earn her Doctor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Following the receipt of her medical doctorate, Dr. Lisa K. Clayton served as a Research Assistant to Dr. Alan Stoudemire and then finished three years of her residency in adult psychiatry at Emory University School of Medicine. In 1992, Dr. Lisa K. Clayton relocated to Texas and completed six months of a geriatric fellowship, the remainder of her four year residency in adult psychiatry, and a yearlong fellowship in forensic psychiatry at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Throughout her career Dr. Lisa K. Clayton held a number of positions in Texas including Consultant Psychiatrist to the Dallas County Jail, Consultant Psychiatrist to the Federal Correctional Institution in Seagoville, and Clinical Director of ADAPT of Texas’ Independent Living – Support Housing Program. In addition to treating patients at her Southlake office, Dr. Lisa K. Clayton practices forensic psychiatry at her office in Irving and serves as a Consultant Psychiatrist to the Dallas County Judicial Treatment Center in Wilmer.
