Dr. Misako McLeod received her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine in 2002 and soon after began a residency in podiatric surgery at Caritas Carney Hospital outside of Boston. Throughout her years as a professional medical practitioner, and the preceding years she spent as a student, Dr. Misako McLeod has continuously excelled in her field. Earning a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology in 1996 from the University of Washington in Seattle, Dr. Misako McLeod received an Alpha Epsilon Delta Premedical Honor Society service award. Dr. Misako McLeod went on to enroll in the California College of Podiatric Medicine, where she maintained a Dean’s Scholarship and earned her doctorate in 2002. After graduating from medical school. Dr. Misako McLeod’s performed her internship at Caritas Carney Hospital, where she rotated through Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, learning diabetic foot reconstruction techniques. Between 2005 and 2008, Dr. Misako McLeod served as Chief Resident at St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco. The St. Mary’s program provides clinical and emergency room care for St. Mary’s Medical Center, Alameda County Medical Center/Highland Hospital in Oakland, Seton Medical Center in Daly City, San Francisco General Hospital, and other facilities. During Dr. Misako McLeod’s three years at St. Mary’s, she trained under renowned surgeons Dr. Jack Schuberth and Dr. Joshua Gerbert. Dr. Misako McLeod’s tenure at the hospital included surgical experience in reconstructive rearfoot surgery; exposure to lower extremity trauma due to gunshot woods, open fractures, foot/ankle fractures and dislocations, and training in infection management, limb salvage, and advanced wound care. After her residency, Dr. Misako McLeod continued her training by performing an AO fellowship under Dr. Kaj Klaue at Clinica Luganese in Lugano, Switzerland.
