  • Hocking College Stands Out From Competition
    March, 2012
With more students than ever seeking a useful college degree, Ohio’s Hocking College should be on everyone’s list, according to former Hocking College administrator Roxanne Duvivier. Roxanne Duvivier served as Senior Vice President for Student Affairs and International Programs during the largest enrollment expansion in the two-year college’s history. She attributes this growth to Hocking College’s ethic of hands-on learning as well as its innovative, student-centered programs. One notable development was the school’s embrace of virtual technology, offering student services and social and education programs through the popular Second Life platform. Hocking College is also the only two-year college in Ohio with its own residence halls. The school now boasts a five-hall system that houses 750 students, thereby promoting a campus atmosphere and student success. Hocking College has developed academic partnerships with other colleges, universities and business around the globe, fostering both a diverse campus community and study abroad opportunities for U.S. students. From its setting on 2,300 acres in the foothills of Southeastern Ohio, to its stellar educational opportunities, many students find Hocking College a great place to reach their higher education goals.

Roxanne Duvivier, now a faculty member at Wright State University, remained with Hocking College from 2002 to 2010. She implemented many reforms, including establishing a judiciary office and expanding the college’s counseling offerings from vocational services to a full suite for emotional, academic, and professional success.
