Upon graduating from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey with a BS in Management with a concentration in Finance, Eleni Demetriou continued her financial studies at Seton Hall University as a graduate student. A member of Beta Gamma Sigma, Eleni Demetriou graduated with an overall GPA of 3.9, an MBA in Finance, and a certificate in International Businesses. Fluent in Greek with a firm grasp of Portuguese and Spanish, Eleni Demetriou mixes strategic business knowledge with a global focus in finance. Through her diligent professional efforts, Eleni Demetriou played a significant role in New Jersey’s financial community for nearly a decade. Highly established in the financial services industry, Demetriou served in various positions for Prudential Capital Management Group, Prudential Liquidity Asset Management, Prudential Fixed Income Advisors, and Prudential Insurance Company of America. In her various positions at Prudential, Demetriou acquired significant fixed income asset management knowledge, including portfolio analysis and strategic/tactical allocation across the different asset classes. Following her role within various divisions of Prudential, Eleni Demetriou assumed roles at Chase Manhattan Bank, JPMorgan Chase & Company, Merrill Lynch & Company, and Prudential Financial. Eleni Demetriou is currently a Level II Chartered Financial Analyst candidate. She is a member of the National Association of Professional Women, the Cambridge Who’s Who, and the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society.

    Eleni Demetriou received a Bachelor of Science in Management and Finance from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey in Newark. Founded in 1766 as Queen’s College, Rutgers University is the eighth-oldest college in the United States. In its earliest form, Rutgers University was chartered as the college and an affiliated preparatory institution called the Queen’s College Grammar School. According to its mission statement, the original purpose of Rutgers University was the “educate the youth in language, liberal, the divinity, and useful arts and sciences.” Although Rutgers University started out as a private men-only university affiliated with the Dutch Reformed Church, it later became a coeducational public research university. Today, Rutgers University is considered one of the top national research universities and enjoys a top 75 ranking among American universities according to the 2009 U.S. News & World Report. Rutgers School of Law campuses regularly rank in the top 100 American law schools, while the Rutgers Business School ranks 39th according to the Wall Street Journal. As a research institution, Rutgers University has produced a number of scientific breakthroughs, such as water-soluble sustained release polymers, robotic hands, and heat shields for the Space Shuttle. Throughout its history, Rutgers University has hosted a number of notable faculty members, including Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and prominent string theorist Michael R. Douglas. The faculty at Rutgers University has also included five Nobel Laureates, including economist Milton Friedman and author Toni Morrison. One of the first American universities to participate in intercollegiate athletics, Rutgers University was also among the first schools to play collegiate football. In 1864, Rutgers University met with officials from Yale, Columbia, and Princeton to establish the rules governing their college football competition. Currently competing as an NCAA Division I school, Rutgers University fields 27 sports programs known as the Scarlet Knights. In recent years, the Rutgers University women’s basketball team has earned a reputation as one of the country’s elite programs, regularly qualifying for the NCAA Women’s Championship Tournament and reaching the national championship game in 2007.

    Originally founded as The Widows and Orphans Friendly Society in 1875 by John F. Dryden, the company started out selling burial insurance. Today, Prudential markets and sells a variety of products, including life insurance, retirement-related services, mutual funds, and investment management assistance. Since its early days, the financial firm’s logo has been the Rock of Gibraltar—one of the most recognized symbols in the world. Trademarked slogans accompanying the logo have included Get a Piece of the Rock and Strength of Gibraltar. Prudential Financial, Inc. is frequently recognized for its good business practices and success in the marketplace.

    In March 2010, FORTUNE magazine listed Prudential as the second most admired life/health insurance company in the world based on use of corporate assets, social responsibility measures, people management methods, and other traits. The Human Rights Campaign, a lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) advocacy group, has given Prudential a 100 percent rating on its Corporate Equality Index—a measurement of American companies’ treatment of LGBT employees, consumers, and investors—every year for the past seven years.

    In 2008, BusinessWeek named Prudential 59th out of 119 companies that were considered the best places to launch a career. In addition, Prudential continues to grow in a period when many companies are stagnant. Recently the company announced the acquisition of AIG Star Life Insurance and AIG Edison Life Insurance companies, both entities of the American International Group, Inc.
