Welcome to Ellen Porter's page!

Hopkinton, New Hampshire

Ellen Porter resided in Hopkinton, New Hampshire from 1999 to 2010, serving as Treasurer for Friends of Hopkinton Lacrosse in 2001. Ellen Porter and other community members founded the grassroots organization as a way of promoting a lacrosse program for the Hopkinton School District. After only a year, Ellen Porter and her fellow volunteers had raised enough money to convince the Hopkinton School District to start up a lacrosse program. From 2004 to 2008, Ellen Porter was active with the Hopkinton Middle/High School volunteer organization, focusing her efforts on fundraisers and selling products at community sporting events. Money raised by Ellen Porter benefited the athletic needs of the Hopkinton Middle/High School, providing chairs for special events in the gym, vests and hats for seniors, and a new school scoreboard. Ellen Porter put her financial management skills to use with Project Graduation, which helped raise necessary funds for the senior graduation party each year. Ellen Porter also volunteered her time and energy for the Hopkinton Soccer Fundraising Committee. In addition to her volunteer work with Hopkinton Middle/High School, Ellen Porter assisted regularly with area food pantries, homeless shelters, and children’s charities. Ellen Porter undertook many of these activities through local charities run by St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. Ellen Porter was an active athlete throughout her time in Hopkinton, competing as a singles player on the local tennis team for eight years. Ellen Porter’s team made it to districts in five of the eight years in which she participated, and made it to the last round in one event. In her free time, Ellen Porter enjoys a wide variety of outdoor activities and recreational sports, such as snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, cycling, and gardening. An avid reader, Ellen Porter enjoys the works of James Grippando, John Grisham, Stuart Woods, and James Patterson.
