Emily Seay brings a well-rounded skill set to her role as Professional School Counselor at Prospect Heights Middle School in Orange, Virginia. Ms. Seay’s work with children and parents began in 2002 when she served as an Ophthalmic Assistant at the Virginia Eye Institute in Richmond, Virginia. Emily Seay performed eye exams on children, educated parents about pediatric eye care, and assisted physicians with pediatric ophthalmic procedures.

In August of 2003, Emily Seay joined Matoaca High School in Chesterfield, Virginia, where she taught biology, earth science, and foundations of science for four years. Based on her assessment of existing materials and curriculum, Ms. Seay managed the selection of new textbooks, educational software, Standards of Learning review guides, and science laboratory supplies. While at Matoaca, Emily Seay also coached field hockey and assisted the school’s track program.

As Head of Swimming at Camp Green Cove in Tuxedo, North Carolina during the summer of 2008, Emily Seay continued to gain experience in education and coaching. During her time at the residential girls’ camp Ms. Seay designed, scheduled, and taught daily swim lessons for campers aged 6 to 13. Emily Seay also supervised a staff of seven lifeguards and administered swim tests for the camp’s entire staff. While working toward her Master of Education, Ms. Seay served as a Graduate Assistant in the University of Virginia’s University Career Services Department. In this capacity, Emily Seay managed career information resources for undergraduate students and taught weekly workshops on researching and applying for internships.

In her current position at Prospect Heights Middle School, Emily Seay has a range of responsibilities, from developing case plans for all of the school’s students to organizing school-wide bullying prevention efforts. In 2005, Emily Seay earned her Collegiate Professional teaching license with a biology endorsement from the University of Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University.
