Euna McGruder is a demonstrated leader in educational change and development. McGruder has served as principal and assistant principal in elementary and middle schools in four states, and is currently the principal of a designated turnaround Title I middle school in Baltimore, where she has instituted various forward-thinking programs and structural changes.

Having worked in schools in Ohio and North Carolina, and possessing almost 10 years of experience in the DeKalb County, Georgia school system, Euna McGruder has a history of innovation. In DeKalb County, McGruder focused her efforts on developing educational stakeholder relationships and fostering strong bonds with civic, business, and community partners. She evaluated and influenced pedagogical practices for optimal student achievement. McGruder also coached teachers and staff, creating avenues for their advancement and improvement within the school system. McGruder’s efforts have led schools under her supervision to earn such achievements as a Governor’s Honor Award and a Title I Distinguished School Award.

After earning a B.B.A. in Marketing from Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1991, Euna McGruder was an elementary school teacher for six years in Ohio. In 1994, she earned an M.S. in Teaching from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio, and continued her studies at Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, earning a Ph.D. in Leadership in Educational Administration in 2009.

Euna McGruder assumed her first educational leadership role as an assistant principal in 1997. She accepted her first position as a principal only four years later. She has presented on topics such as emotional intelligence and leadership styles, strategies for efficiency in higher education, and bridging the academic achievement gap.

Euna McGruder takes part in several charitable initiatives, such as Hosea Feed the Hungry and the United Negro College Fund. She is actively engaged in life coaching and youth mentoring. In her free time, she enjoys walking, Pilates, and the arts.
