Franco's Status Updates

Franco Lumachi is an Italian doctor and teaching professor with offices in the Department of Surgical & Gastroenterological Sciences at the University of Padua’s School of Medicine. As an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Padua, he draws on his previous clinical experiences, his work as an attending Surgeon in General surgery, his background in Endocrine Surgery, and his participation with the Breast Surgery Unit to convey a broad scope of knowledge with roots in multiple disciplines. Professor Lumachi has had the opportunity to teach at the University of Padua for over two decades, working within the School of Plastic Surgery to cover General Surgery; the School of Emergency Surgery, where he taught General Surgery and Emergency Surgery; and the School of General Surgery, where he taught Surgical Anatomy, and Endocrine Surgery. Professor Lumachi’s key areas of medical and clinical interest are diseases and cancers of the breast, as well as Endocrinology and Endocrine Surgery, focusing on the Thyroid and Parathyroid, adrenal gland diseases, Surgical Oncology, and Senology. Professor Lumachi has spent much of his career at the University of Padua, where he also received his medical degree and performed the majority of his post-graduate and post-doctoral work in General Surgery and Endocrinology. He has received foreign training as a visiting fellow at Harvard University in Boston, MA; Université de Lille in Lille, France; McGill University in Montréal, Canada; and IRCAD-IESE in Strasbourg, France. As a working medical professional, Professor Lumachi maintains active membership in several prominent organizations related to his field, including the Collaborative Group on Hormonal Factors in Breast Cancer, the New York Academy of Sciences, The Endocrine Society, the European Society of Surgical Oncology and the Italian Society of Surgery.
