A native of San Francisco, California, Frank Pitre remained in his home town during his college years. First receiving a Bachelor of Science cum laude from the University of San Francisco, Frank Pitre stayed at the school to earn his Juris Doctor. In addition to his course work, Frank Pitre served as a Legal Extern for the Supreme Court of California. Frank Pitre’s law license enabled him to embark on a successful career as a trial lawyer, for which he has earned numerous recognitions, such as being selected as a Northern California Super Lawyer every year since 2004, earning recognition as one of Northern California’s top 10 for 2010 and top 100 from 2005-2009. As a litigator, Frank Pitre focuses on consumer fraud, personal injury, and commercial torts. Frank Pitre has served as counsel on such important cases as the Alaska Air Flight 261 crash and the Singapore Airlines Flight 006 crash. Frank Pitre has represented clients against the California Department of Transportation, makers of the diet pill Fen-Phen, and presently serves as co-lead counsel for the nationwide class action cases filed against Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., Inc. Frank Pitre has also used his trial skills in defense of the First Amendment, such as in a 2000 case where his defense of Consumers Union in a lawsuit brought by Isuzu Motors Limited earned him a nomination for the Trial Lawyer of the Year Award. Frank Pitre participates in other activities, in addition to functioning as an attorney. Frank Pitre writes on legal issues for professional journals. Frank Pitre has volunteered his time to teach trial skills at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and the University of San Francisco. Frank Pitre also provides the San Mateo County Superior Court with his services as a Judge Pro Tem. Still in the San Francisco area, Frank Pitre practices law out of Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy.
