George Subraj, of Queens, New York, serves as President of Zara Realty Holding Corp., which leases apartments east of Manhattan. The company provides studios-one- to three-bedroom homes located near public transportation, the Long Island Expressway, and Grand Central Parkway. George Subraj’s floor plans include private balconies, new appliances, vaulted ceilings, and walk-in closets. Amenities of these spacious apartments include on-site security, laundromats, 24-hour maintenance, and garage parking. George Subraj bought his first complex of rental units in 1981 and has since built a name for himself in the luxury apartment market. Born in 1945 in Guyana, George Subraj lived in the republic for nearly 30 years. He attended St. Mary’s Lutheran School and worked as a farmer, miller, and mechanic. In 1971, George Subraj moved to New York and studied at Midtown School of Business. He has also pursued legal studies at Hofstra University. George Subraj worked in a supermarket and an electronics retailer before entering the real estate business. George Subraj sponsors several humanitarian efforts as part of Guyana Watch Inc., which provides medical services, including clinics, medicine, and surgical procedures. George Subraj enabled Guyana’s first kidney transplant and sponsored the republic’s first series of pediatric heart surgeries. George Subraj has also donated wheelchairs and medical supplies to underserved populations, an elevator for the elderly at the Prem Bhakti Mandir Hindu temple, and a computer training center to the Saraswati Vidya Niketan secondary school.
