Glenn Gritzner accepted the responsibility of opening and operating a branch office in Los Angeles for Mercury Public Affairs in 2009. A former California Assembly Speaker requested that Glenn Gritzner take this job, based on his experience as a public affairs consultant and nonprofit director. A communication consulting firm based in Washington D.C. and Sacramento, with branches in six states across the country, Mercury Public Affairs was seeking managers who were familiar with the particulars of the public sector.

Glenn Gritzner brought nearly two decades of experience, including positions in the public, private, and nonprofit spheres, to the firm. In less than two years, he has expanded the staff of the LA office from two to six employees. Glenn Gritzner advises corporations, local governments, and nonprofit organizations on government operations and legislative policies. His areas of expertise comprise media and communications, urban planning and development, education, and political outreach. Prior to launching the Southern California branch of Mercury Public Affairs, Glenn Gritzner worked as Managing Director of Public Affairs Consulting in the LA office of the international law firm Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal. Based in Chicago, the firm maintains domestic branches in such cities as Phoenix, Dallas, and Washington, D.C., as well as overseas in Brussels and Zurich. A great deal of Glenn Gritzner’s public sector experience came during his five years at the Los Angeles Unified School District.

As the Special Assistant to the Superintendent & Director of External Affairs, Glenn Gritzner managed political relations and served as press liaison for the School Superintendent, who was also the former governor of Colorado. Gritzner supervised the three largest school bond elections in U.S. history, resulting in approval for more than $20 billion in levies to construct and renovate school buildings. Glenn Gritzner has a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from UCLA and a Master of Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
