Gracepoint Fellowship Church offers a community of God’s followers a place to worship and share their journeys of faith with others. More than just Sunday service, Gracepoint Fellowship Church exceeds its members’ spiritual needs through personalized ministry. Gracepoint Fellowship seeks to inspire Christ-centered lives with a friendly atmosphere of great music, kind people, and thought-provoking messages of praise. Gracepoint Fellowship Church began in 1981 as Berkland Baptist Church. With its location just blocks from UC Berkeley, Berkland (Gracepoint) catered its ministry to college students. Today, Gracepoint Fellowship continues its university focus and extends its worship to include people from different backgrounds. Gracepoint’s congregation is multi-ethnic and mostly comprised of Asian Americans. Gracepoint Fellowship Church follows the mission statements defined by its Southern Baptist Convention denomination. Pastor Ed Kang leads the Gracepoint Fellowship Church congregation. In addition to its normal Sunday services, Gracepoint boasts vibrant ministries for college students, working professionals, international residents, youth, children, and any seekers or believers. Gracepoint Fellowship Church members often meet in smaller groups throughout the week, and church staff members are available to direct individuals to the right study group for their needs. To become a member of Gracepoint, one must sign a covenant and complete the church’s membership classes. Additionally, Gracepoint Fellowship members submit their testimonies and publicly declare their faith through full immersion baptisms. Gracepoint Fellowship Church equips the faithful with training sessions and conferences to build their relationships with Christ, and leading faith partners have connected with Gracepoint to inspire more from its members. A large component of Gracepoint Fellowship Church is its outreach and community involvement. Gracepoint Fellowship Church regularly volunteers at ImpACT, a non-profit organization offering mentorship and enrichment classes for underprivileged youth in Oakland. Gracepoint also sponsors more than 150 children each month through the Christian child advocacy group Compassion International. Exercising its faith outside of the worship center, Gracepoint Fellowship serves several local convalescent centers, senior homes, and homeless rescue shelters. Gracepoint Fellowship Church also responds to Christ’s call to evangelize through mission trips all over the world.
