A longstanding member of the Austin medical community, Dr. Gregg Lucksinger is Medical Director at Tekton Research, Inc., a clinical research company based in Austin, Texas. Dr. Lucksinger also serves as Chief Medical Officer of Trovare, Inc., a software and pharmaceutical research institution.

Though Dr Lucksinger’s career is currently focused on high tech areas of health care, he also has an interest in other healing disciplines-particularly yoga (which he practices regularly), Pilates and acupuncture. Fortunately, Austin is full of many excellent practitioners in all of these areas and Dr Lucksinger is one of several organizers of a monthly forum to bring them together for dinner and discussion.

Dr. Gregg Lucksinger prepared for his career in medicine at the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. After earning his undergraduate degree in 1984, Gregg began his medical studies at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. A year after beginning the program, he undertook a summer preceptorship in psychopharmacology research on campus. In 1988, he undertook a Clinical Research Elective in Psychopharmacology at The National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Lucksinger worked on the schizophrenia/clozapine research unit overseen by Dr. David Pickar. After graduating with his Doctorate of Medicine in 1989, Dr. Lucksinger completed the family practice residency program at Central Texas Medical Foundation. In his third year, he served as Chief Resident and President of the Resident’s Association.

During his years in practice, Dr. Lucksinger has occasionally pursued opportunities to teach-speaking to both undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Texas on topics such as antibiotic resistance and psychiatric medications. He has also enjoyed speaking on radio, television and in the newspapers about topics ranging from vaccines to hot flashes to electronic medical records systems.
