English TeacherNorwalk, ConnecticutEnglish teacher Hege Abrahamsen fosters an educational environment that promotes a lasting pursuit of achievement. Abrahamsen works to maintain effective communication with her pupils and to cultivate positive learning experiences with exceptional results. Taking an active role both within the classroom and in extracurricular activities, Hege Abrahamsen seeks to surpass conventional educational expectations and objectives. During her 5-year tenure at McIntosh County Academy in Georgia, Hege Abrahamsen taught all academic levels of English to students in grades 9-12. As Language Arts Department Chairperson and Literary Coordinator, Abrahamsen helped the school develop its English curriculum and worked with students to increase Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores and performance on the state’s mandatory writing test. She earned recognition from the school on three occasions, twice as Teacher of the Month and once as Teacher of the Year. Hege Abrahamsen participated in several extracurricular endeavors, creating and sponsoring the Help Our Planet Earth (HOPE) club during her first year at the school. Also serving as coach of the debate team, SAT-prep director, and Assistant Drama Director, Abrahamsen was a valuable asset to student life at McIntosh County Academy. Abrahamsen currently teaches an after-school English program at Connecticut’s Norwalk High School, where she instructs students in the art of preparing college-admissions essays and readies them for a variety of crucial examinations. Simultaneously, she furthers her own education by pursuing a Master of Science at the University of Bridgeport. Abrahamsen is a member of the American Federation of Teachers. In addition to English, she fluently speaks both Spanish and Norwegian. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and reading. Hege Abrahamsen's Schools
