Retired speech-language pathologist and minister Henry L. Ingram conducted a distinguished and varied career, marked by a desire to help others. Henry L. Ingram is an expert on bilingual speech pathology, and he founded his own church. A native of Ohio, Henry L. Ingram received a Bachelor of Arts in 1969 from the University of Akron in Ohio, and he was a Master of Arts candidate at the University of Akron and California State University, Northridge from 1972 until 1975. In 1969, Henry L. Ingram also began his career as a speech pathologist, accepting the position of Speech-Hearing Coordinator for the Akron Community Action Council, in Akron, Ohio. Henry L. Ingram’s position with the Council was followed by a series of similar posts as a speech pathologist in the 1970s. Notably, from 1974 until 1979, Henry L. Ingram served as the Speech-Language Pathologist for Camarillo State Hospital, in Camarillo, California. Henry L. Ingram also served as a bilingual Spanish-English consultant for the Plaza de la Raza Head Start program in East Los Angeles. The older brother of popular singer James Ingram, Henry L. Ingram has always been involved in music, and he organized a contemporary gospel vocal group in the 1970s. In 1982, Henry L. Ingram applied his musical talents to his new position as minister of the Lifeseed Christian Fellowship in Stockton, California. In addition to founding the church and serving as pastor for over 20 years, Henry L. Ingram was Lifeseed Christian Fellowship’s music minister and oversaw all aspects of the church’s musical worship. From 2007 until 2009, Henry L. Ingram resumed his speech pathology career through Aegis Therapies, a nationwide contract rehabilitation service. At Aegis Therapies, Henry L. Ingram worked with long-term care patients suffering speech pathology issues as a result of Parkinson’s disease, strokes, dementia, and other diseases and conditions. Henry L. Ingram was also called upon to conduct workshops on swallowing disorders. At present, Henry L. Ingram maintains a ministerial consultancy and volunteers in a community clergy position for a local hospital. Henry L. Ingram is also an avid reader and enjoys water aerobics.
