In this case, the presiding judge determined the crash resulted from an inferior rudder design, which caused the plane’s vertical stabilizer to separate mid-flight.

Before beginning his own practice in 1992, attorney Ismael Gonzalez worked for five years as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in Newark, New Jersey, where he focused his practice on criminal and civil litigation. Prior to that, Ismael Gonzalez served as a full-time Captain and Judge Advocate General (JAG) for the U.S. Air Force at the MacDill Air Force Base, where as a Special Assistant United States Attorney he prosecuted narcotics, contract fraud and DWI cases. Ismael Gonzalez also provided legal and logistical support to F-16 fighter pilots and was in charge of investigations into air accidents. He continued as a Major in the United States Air Force Reserves after receiving an honorable discharge from active duty service and received the Air Force Achievement Medal for his superior logistical support during Operation Desert Storm. Ismael Gonzalez’s experience in civil litigation also derives from two other positions early in his career as an attorney. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1981, Ismael Gonzalez secured a position as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted numerous criminal cases, gaining valuable trial experience before judges and juries.

Estudios indican que tanto como 10.000 personas son condenadas incorrectamente en los Estados Unidos cada año por crímenes que no cometieron. Muchos de estos individuos languidecen en las prisiones por periodos de tiempo significativos. Alguna de esta gente inocente va a la prisión por décadas, haciendo frente a un futuro desesperado e injusto o aún a la perspectiva de una ejecución. La evidencia y los datos históricos indican que, durante años, las convicciones ilícitas han dado lugar a la muerte por la ejecución quizás de millares de gente inocente.
