Currently, he is a senior clinical resident on the neurosurgical services at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He anticipates the completion of his training in June 2014. A National Merit Scholar, Dr. Joseph Bridger Cox attended The University of Oklahoma, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, graduating magna cum laude in 2003. During his studies, Dr. Joseph Bridger Cox traveled to the United Kingdom to attend the University of Oxford. Furthering his education, he enrolled in medical school at The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, where he obtained his degree in 2007. Dr. Joseph Bridger Cox possesses a clinical interest in spine surgery, specifically spine tumors and the correction of spinal deformities. Outside of the operating room, he has an interest in policy issues and socioeconomic concerns within the field of neurosurgery. As a medical professional, Dr. Joseph Bridger Cox maintains membership in the Florida Medical Association, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He also serves as a member of AOSpine, an international community of spine care professionals. A charitable individual, he supports the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence and Livestrong, an organization formed by cancer survivors to help others fight the disease.
