Jackie Martin-Klement has been teaching Spanish, computer literacy, and career development skills for more than twenty years. In a word, Jackie Martin-Klement is fluent; she is dedicated to innovative, effective communication in the service of students of all ages and linguistic backgrounds. At Bowling Green State University, Jackie Martin-Klement earned degrees in Interpersonal & Public Communication and Spanish, including a Masters of Arts in Spanish Literature. As a college student with impeccable English and Spanish communications skills, Jackie Martin-Klement began to focus her career on education and office technology. At Bowling Green, she sought out opportunities to assist faculty members and students with word processing projects while working as a teaching assistant. When she finished school, Jackie Martin-Klement became a high school teacher in Ramona, CA, where she established the school’s computer lab and quickly recognized the need to extend computer skills courses to students with limited English proficiency. As her career progressed, Jackie Martin-Klement dedicated herself to adult education programs, offering classes in Microsoft Office at Vista Adult School in Vista, CA. Jackie Martin-Klement has taught vocational ESL, Spanish grammar, word processing, resume building, and portfolio production, providing her students with the tools they need to establish their own careers. Jackie Martin-Klement’s didactic efforts at Palomar College have reinforced her commitment to universal business education needs. At Palomar, Jackie Martin-Klement expanded ROP certification programs and designed courses on applications for PC and Macintosh operating systems for ESL students. She also continues to press for new curricula expanding opportunities for bilingual students. On behalf of Palomar, Jackie Martin-Klement recently began a partnership with the city of San Marcos, CA, to provide city workers with improved opportunities for computer literacy—a sign that Jackie Martin-Klement’s leadership strengthens her community as well as her students’ careers.
