[Posted by Werneuchen]
At Frizzell Dental, Dr. James Frizzell is dedicated to the safety and comfort of the patient above all else. For that reason, he adopted stringent standards for infection control in his office, taking all possible measure to ensure that no disease or infection spreads to patients under his care. First, Dr. James Frizzell and his staff all wear disposable gloves, changing them between each patient and, when necessary, between different procedures with the same patient. The professionals at Frizzell Dental also wear facemasks during all procedures, which prevent microorganisms and other potentially harmful particles from transferring between the patient and the doctor or hygienist. In addition, Dr. James Frizzell and his employees employ protective eyeglasses that are regularly washed and sanitized in order to avoid any form of cross-contamination. Any instruments that Dr. James Frizzell uses during procedures are immediately sterilized using an autoclave, a device that employs steam and high temperatures (normally 170 degrees Celsius) to destroy bacteria and other microorganisms. Dedicated to providing an immaculate environment for dental care, the staff at Frizzell Dental utilizes a unique disinfectant cleaner on all surfaces in each treatment room both before and after a patient receives care. All sharps and other hazardous waste are disposed of properly using the government’s regulated procedures, which diminish the contact that other humans will have with the material. Whenever appropriate, Frizzell Dental purchases high-quality disposable materials, employing them according to best practices. Dr. James Frizzell establishes a safe environment in which all his patients will feel at ease.

Toronto Maple Leafs

The older of the two teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs date back to 1917. One of the original six teams to play in the NHL up until the 1967 season, the Toronto Maple Leafs currently play in the Air Canada Centre, an indoor sporting arena in Toronto. The Toronto Maple Leafs hold 11 Stanley Cup titles, second in the NHL only to their rivals the Montreal Canadiens. The last time the Maple Leafs won the Cup was in 1967 against the Montreal Canadiens. Boasting one of the league’s most loyal fan bases, the Toronto Maple Leafs have sold out every game at the Air Canada Centre since October 2002. Besides the Montreal Canadiens, the Maple Leafs’ biggest rival is the Ottawa Senators, which play from Ottawa, Ontario.
Ottawa Senators

Established in 1990 as a revival of the original Ottawa Senators, which competed in the NHL from 1917 to 1934, the modern-day Ottawa Senators were founded by real estate developer Bruce Firestone. The Ottawa Senators play at the 20,500-person capacity Scotiabank Place, which they began occupying in 1996. Though the team has never won the Stanley Cup, the Ottawa Senators have qualified for the playoffs almost every season for the last 13 years, including an appearance in the 2007 Stanley Cup Finals, in which the Anaheim Ducks defeated them.

Hurricane Katrina, Dr. James Frizzell
February, 2011
James Frizzell, DDS actively supports a variety of philanthropic endeavors. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Dr. James Frizzell volunteered his efforts in New Orleans, Louisiana. In this role, he directly contributed to the renovation of homes demolished by the devastating 2005 natural disaster.
Hurricane Katrina officially lasted from August 23 to August 30, 2005. Though the overwhelming storm also affected parts of Cuba and Canada, the United States nonetheless absorbed the majority of Hurricane Katrina’s impact. Additionally, while southern Florida and other areas of the U.S. suffered severe damages, Louisiana sustained the most devastating losses of any region. The historical city of New Orleans alone witnessed 53 distinct levee failures, with a resulting deluge that covered approximately 80 percent of the area. More than 1,800 direct and indirect deaths occurred in the U.S. as a result of the disaster, and more than one million U.S. Gulf Coast residents relocated to other cities around the country.
Hurricane Katrina exacted extensive environmental and economic effects. With total property damages exceeding $80 billion and reconstruction efforts still in progress, the storm remains the most expensive natural disaster in all of U.S. history. It also ranks among the six most powerful hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean ever recorded.

The Progressive Stages of Gum Disease, by Dr. James Frizzell (1/2)
March, 2011
by Dr. James Frizzell
In my practice at Niagara Falls Frizzell Dental, I proudly offer the highest levels of compassionate dental care in a relaxing, welcoming environment. At Niagara Falls Frizzell Dental, we utilize state-of-the-art technology in combination with an extensive equipment sterilization system for a wide array of general and cosmetic dental procedures. In addition to basic exams, X-rays, routine cleanings, tooth extractions, root canals, and the placement of tooth-colored fillings, crowns, implants, and bridges, Niagara Falls Frizzell Dental provides services such as enamel cosmetic recontouring, VELscope oral cancer screening, low-radiation digital radiographs, and advanced tooth whitening. Patients suffering from any form of anxiety related to needed dental procedures can rest assured that my staff and I possess conclusive knowledge regarding self-calming techniques specially designed to ease the stress many individuals experience during a visit to the dentist.
To ensure that all of my patients receive the treatment necessary to achieve optimal oral health, I devote a great deal of time and energy to educating clients about the necessity of daily oral maintenance, explaining the importance of preventative practices such as regular brushing and flossing. Individuals wishing to preserve healthy teeth and gums must fastidiously maintain these habits, considering the fact that most people visit the dentist only twice a year on average. Despite the fact that I strongly encourage all my patients to take personal responsibility for their own dental health, situations do arise that require immediate and targeted treatment from a dentist to prevent further problems from arising. Among the oral ailments I treat, periodontal disease stands apart as a particularly insidious condition, often progressing at such a gradual pace that patients fail to notice its symptoms and signs. When left unchecked over time, periodontal disease can result in lost teeth and serious infection, damaging the oral cavity irreparably in some cases.

Originally settled by the Iroquois, the area in Canada now known as Niagara Falls received its first visitors, French priest Louis Hennepin and other Europeans, in the 17th century. Incorporated as the town of Clifton in 1856, the Canadian city of Niagara Falls acquired its present name in 1881. It subsequently received formal incorporation as a city in 1904.
Niagara Falls, Ontario, remains a popular tourist destination. Additionally, it retains a residential population of more than 83,000 people. Though the city’s economy principally sustains itself through tourism-related activities, the waterfalls’ capacity as an ongoing source of hydroelectric power helps to attract a variety of industrial sectors to the picturesque region.

The Injurious Effects of Tobacco on Dental Health and Hygiene, The Injurious Effects of Tobacco on Dental Health and Hygiene By James Frizzell, DDS
May, 2012
It is generally accepted that smoking tobacco can lead to nicotine addiction, various forms of cancer, premature aging, and heart disease, but smoking has additional adverse effects on dental health and hygiene. According to the Canadian Dental Association, smoking tobacco can damage the gum tissue and lead to stained teeth, accumulation of plaque and tartar, recessed gums, and increased sensitivity to hot and cold. In worst-case scenarios, prolonged smoking can cause periodontitis, leukoplakia, and oral and pharyngeal cancers. Periodontitis refers to a swelling of the gums that may eventually cause loss of teeth, while leukoplakia is the term for lesions in the mouth that do not heal. Oral and pharyngeal cancer can attack the lips, tongue, palate, and parts of the throat. Regular smokers should request a screening with their dentists to detect signs of pre-cancer, and those who wish to quit smoking should work with a medical professional to create an effective plan of action.
