As Chief Executive Officer of electronic entertainment company 3G Studios, Inc., James Kosta maintains responsibility for all aspects of operation, including negotiating partnerships and contracts with licensees and publishers, developing software, and handling all firm operations and staffing. James Kosta pursued his undergraduate studies in computer science and psychology at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo from 1989 to 1993. Undertaking work with the U.S. Navy in the 1990s, James Kosta entered the software design industry on a per-project basis, working with Dell, Disney, Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.C., Microsoft Corporation, and Digital Equipment Corporation. James Kosta founded 3G Studios, Inc. in 2002, building the company from a small video game developer to a respected online social games publisher. Focusing on social networks such as Facebook, James Kosta has patented several key pieces of technology that enable video game connections across mobile and social platforms. In July 2010, James Kosta and 3G Studios released the beta version of Brave Arms, a first-person shooter game designed for the Facebook platform. James Kosta’s creation is one of the first of its kind, allowing players to challenge friends on Facebook and compete in team modes. James Kosta sees a large potential market for this game, particularly in allowing weaponry accessories to be upgraded through real-currency transactions. Additionally, users earn points for playing, which are redeemable at the Brave Arms store. James Kosta envisions making Brave Arms available on mobile platforms as well. James Kosta belongs to professional organizations such as Microsoft Developer Network, Digital Distribution Executives LinkedIn group, and International Game Developers Association. An active member of his community, James Kosta coaches troubled teens and has given to the American National Red Cross. In his free time, James Kosta enjoys activities such as mountain biking, racquetball, and horseback riding.
