A screenwriter with growing portfolio in the film industry, Janyce Lapore continues to make an impact with her diverse, thought-provoking dramatic features, all of which have garnered considerable acclaim from festivals and competitions nationwide. With Poppytown, Janyce Lapore delivered the story of two undercover agents who infiltrate the South Asian opium trade with tragic results. Poppytown was named Best New Film Noir by Fade In magazine and took finalist honors from the Writers Network and Writers & Artists Awards. The script was revised on March 21, 2010 and is now under review with an LA based studio. Adapted from an earlier stage play about a group of Italian women in 1970s working class steel-town Pennsylvania, Janyce Lapore’s 2009 screenplay, Screaming My Heart Out, ended up on several Top Ten, Top Five, and other finalist lists on the festival circuit, including Canada’s Red Ink Awards, the Women’s Image Network Awards, the Moondance International Film Festival, the New Century Writer Awards, and the Cynosure Screenwriting Awards. Janyce Lapore’s script won the Silver Drama Award from the PAGE International Screenwriting Awards, Best Screenplay from the Female Eye Film Festival, Best Script from the Cinema City International Film Festival, and the Hollywood Scriptwriter Award of Excellence in Writing. In 2010, Janyce Lapore again went to numerous film festivals with 10 Minutes From Paradise, a character-driven story of three friends’ quest for fortune in New York City. An official selection for the Action on Film International Film Festival, 10 Minutes From Paradise received Best Screenplay at the ACEFEST, Award of Excellence at the Los Angeles Movie Awards, and Best Suspense/Thriller from the Los Angeles Film Festival, among other honors. Her newest script, Circle of Six, is being reviewed by several film companies and her short, The Director, will premier this summer. The Director was directed by Brad Grimm and stars Jarrod DiGiorgi, Dihlon McManne, Nick Lehane. Barrett Black was composer for the film. Janyce’s newest script, A Circle Of Six, is being reviewed by four major studios.
