While an undergraduate student at Saint Louis University, Jason Grill was afforded the opportunity to study International Economics in Rome, Italy through a partnership with Loyola University Chicago. During his time abroad, Jason studied international economics in Italy and traveled throughout Europe, which helped Jason better understand the global economy and how different types of people interact on a day to day basis in a global marketplace. While keeping himself busy with his studies, Jason Grill interned at The White House in the Office of the Vice President (Al Gore). While at the White House, Jason operated in the capacity as an assistant to the Vice President’s Senior Advisor for Urban Redevelopment and Economic Policy, Mr. Alvin Brown. Jason’s experiences and participation in the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles in summer 2000 inspired Jason to think about giving back to the state and community through public service.

Jason Grill graduated from Saint Louis University with a B.S. in Business Administration with a major in Economics. After this experience he began to migrate back towards Kansas City, when he enrolled at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law. Jason went back to Washington, D.C. while in law school to intern in CNN’s Washington, D.C. Bureau as the top assistant to Senior Political and Economic Correspondent Brooks Jackson. During his last semester at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, Jason Grill interned at the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City, gaining hands-on experience on the important issues facing Missouri and a ringside seat to the day to day routine of a Missouri Legislator. Jason graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law on May 15, 2004.

In 2004, Jason ran for the same 32nd District Missouri House of Representatives seat that he now currently holds, narrowly losing (50.6 to 49.4 percent (226 votes out of nearly 20,000 case) to three-term incumbent State Representative Susan Phillips.

In 2006, Jason Grill was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives. Jason Grill won the hotly contested and targeted race by a 9272 to 6148 vote margin (60.2 to 39.8) over the former CFO of Kansas City Power and Light.

During his first term as a legislator he was elected the Freshman Class Treasurer. Also, he was the only freshman member of the minority party to sponsor legislation that was signed into law. In 2008 he was named by Missouri Lawyers Weekly as an Up and Coming Lawyer and was also awarded Kansas City’s Best Politician by KC Magazine.

In November 2008, with overwhelming support, Jason Grill was reelected to a second term and received the most votes out of any Democrat running for State Representative in Missouri.

A resident of Parkville, Missouri, Jason Grill enjoys rooting for the Missouri Tigers, Kansas City Royals, and Kansas City Chiefs. He also enjoys spending time with his family, reading, taking part in community events, and traveling.
