About Jerry Roberto

With over 35 years in the telecommunications industry, Jerry Roberto has received recognition as an accomplished author, instructor, researcher, and leader. A Jacksonville, Florida, native, Jerry Roberto relocated to New Jersey to attend higher education institutions and remained there to fulfill a long and successful career in the telecommunications industry. Serving communities all over the state of New Jersey, including cities such as Piscataway and Holmdel, Jerry Roberto has developed and implemented a multitude of innovative telecommunications software systems.

Jerry Roberto has held a number of management positions for various American Telephone & Telegraph-affiliated companies throughout New Jersey. As Supervisor of Software Research and Development and Department Head of Telecom Software Development at Bell Laboratories, Jerry Roberto was heavily involved in investigating human-machine language translation and creating online information management systems. While working as District Manager of Information Systems at AT&T, Jerry Roberto increased revenue by 400 percent in just a few years.

Later employed by Bellcore as an Assistant Vice President of Telecom Software Development, Jerry Roberto deftly supervised provisioning suite Operations Support Systems, replacing the legacy system COSMOS with the new provisioning OSS, SWITCH. Most recently, Jerry Roberto was appointed President of Operation Support Systems for Telcordia Technologies. Jerry Roberto oversaw general business and technical development, revenue, profits and losses, and design and development of his department’s projects. In his four years as President of the OSS group, Jerry Roberto generated revenue by an additional 100 percent. He also served on the Board of Directors at Telcordia.

Before entering the engineering field, Jerry Roberto attended the New Jersey Institute of Technology and Harvard University, where he formed the foundation on which he built his career. At the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Jerry Roberto studied electrical engineering, receiving a Bachelors degree in three short years. A member of the Engineering Honor Society, Tau Beta Pi, and the Electrical and Computer Engineering Honor Society, Eta Kappa Nu, Jerry Roberto completed his graduate education at Harvard, obtaining his Masters degree in Engineering.

Jerry Roberto now resides in Sea Girt, New Jersey, with his wife Joan.
