Jim Russell has been a coder since the days of punched cards and paper tape, and has a working knowledge of most computer languages known to humans, from COBOL to Brainf*ck. Off-hours, Jim has been active in live theatre, most notably with the Celtic Theatre Company of South Orange, NJ USA. He is also a musician and songwriter, and a happily-married father of two—a jazz trumpeter and an artist who prefers to work in pencils.

Honeywell used to make computers. Our division, Honeywell Information Systems, used to write custom programming for clients so that they would buy Honeywell hardware. The biggest project I worked on here was DCRIS, a system for telephone central switching stations. It was mostly used by non-Bell systems. Our biggest client was ConTel.
