Since 1996, JoAnn Starner has worked as the Customer Service Manager at Central Wholesalers, Inc., a commercial and multi-family building maintenance products and services company headquartered in Laurel, Maryland. The company provides customers in eight states along the East Coast with a wide range of diverse services, and offers free training programs for maintenance professionals, along with kitchen renovations, tub glazing, keying services, and a Waterwatch Program that helps customers save money and protect the environment. JoAnn Starner takes on multiple responsibilities, running the customer service department, overseeing daily operations of all staffers, and training new customer service representatives. Working in customer service for nearly a decade before joining Central Wholesalers, Ms. Starner started at the company as a Customer Service Associate, and became the manager of the department in 1999.

In her free time, JoAnn Starner goes fishing. She often sets her sights on catching mid-Atlantic and Gulf Coast croaker, nicknamed “hardhead” for its legendary resistance to being captured. In addition to fishing for croaker, Ms. Starner enjoys visiting Chincoteague Island in the Chesapeake Bay, where she fishes for stingray with a bow and arrow.

Travel remains a passion of Ms. Starner’s, and she favors visiting Italy, in particular the city of Rome. She has visited the Vatican as well as the iconic Trevi Fountain. In addition, Ms. Starner has toured Florence and Venice. She also enjoyed exploring the city of Pompeii, which was buried by a volcanic eruption in 79 A.D. and rediscovered by a farmer digging in the fields in 1749. In addition to her travels abroad, JoAnn Starner has visited many destinations across the U.S., and counts trips into the mountains among her favorite excursions.

In her free time, JoAnn Starner is an avid reader, and counts books from Danielle Steel, John Grisham, Mary Higgins Clark, and James Patterson among her favorites. Her hobbies also include photography and scrapbooking. A charitable individual, Ms. Starner donates generously to the Disabled American Veterans and the Fraternal Order of Police.
