Founder of JT Builders and Toboni VineyardSan Francisco, CaliforniaBorn in San Francisco in 1952, Joe Toboni has lived and worked in the Bay Area for most of his life. After graduating from the University of San Francisco with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1974, Toboni moved to Frankfurt, Germany, where he held a position with Carbo Mix of Europe for two years. He returned to San Francisco several years later and founded property-development firm J. Toboni Construction. In 1994, the enterprise transitioned into JT Builders, where Joe Toboni continues to supervise the staff and construct premier properties today. When not busy with his contracting and development work, Joe Toboni oversees winemaking at Toboni Vineyard, a premier producer of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the Russian River Valley of California. He and his wife started farming on the land in 1999, and began bottling wine four years later. Set on 25 acres, the vineyard boasts Pommard and Dijon Pinot Noir clones that produce a compelling fruitiness balanced by a lively structure. Joe Toboni also remains a dedicated supporter of his community. He held a position on the board for St. Anne’s Home, a care facility for the elderly, and served as chairman for St. Brendan Parish’s Feasibility Study. Moreover, Toboni led St. Brendan’s Capital Campaign from 1999 to 2000, securing a total of $3.5 million in donations for the Roman Catholic Church and the surrounding community. Joe Toboni has also provided assistance to his former high school, St. Ignatius College Preparatory. Apart from acting as chairman of an auction that generated $1 million for the school, he and the employees at his construction company donated their time and efforts to build a new baseball facility for St. Ignatius.
