Johan Schild has spent nearly half a century at sea.
Johan Schild is an internationally trained maritime expert. In his more than 45 years of service, Schild has worked as a Port Captain, Salvage Master, consultant, and surveyor. Johan has founded and managed numerous maritime businesses and is currently the President and CEO of Marine Consultancy, LLC.
Johan Schild has worked on commercial and private vessels all over the world. His work is based in the Caribbean, along the Gulf Coast, the Netherlands, and Nigeria. Schild once supervised a project that involved transporting an entire gas gathering plant from New Orleans to Nigeria using barges and navigation systems.
During the complicated transport from Louisiana to Nigeria, Schild served as Transportation Manager and Tow Master. He carefully plotted a course, a tedious path that required carefully avoiding pipelines, oyster beds, and other structures during transport. Additionally, Johan Schild and his crew had to pay careful attention to shallow areas while navigating through Louisiana’s Barataria Waterway.
Johan Schild has had a variety of other experiences in anchoring and navigation. He used navigation technology and astute navigational skills during his time as the Captain and owner of a charter catamaran in the Caribbean with Steel Magnolia Charters. He also used these skills while working as the Captain of a container vessel for Dutch shipping companies.
