An experienced senior executive and chief operating officer in the real estate and investment industry, John Alphson serves as the COO of Norfolk Capital, LLC. Based in Los Angeles, California, Mr. Alphson oversees the company’s portfolio of industrial and commercial property, at 1 million square feet with a deal size in excess of $85 million. Responsible for leading the investment and financing efforts of the company, John Alphson pursues deals that build value through the repositioning of assets and the recognition of significant investment opportunities.

Working with brokers, designers, architects, engineers, and contractors, John Alphson has a 20-year record of success executing real estate investment/ development projects in the United States and abroad. A trusted liaison between investors and property holders, John Alphson negotiated the largest industrial leasehold in California at the time and worked with some of the nation’s largest corporations, including the Ford Motor Co., the General Electric Company (GE), the Sears Holdings Corporation, the Hughes Aircraft Company (now the Raytheon Company), and Johnson & Johnson.

Before founding Norfolk Capital, LLC, John Alphson worked for Public Investment Corporation of Santa Monica, California, for 2 decades. Eventually reaching the position of President of the 250-employee company, Mr. Alphson directly participated in the company as an investor/principal, achieving an asset value of over $1 billion. During his 8-year tenure as President, John Alphson doubled the annual revenue of the company to $50 million and generated a 40 percent annualized real estate portfolio return, significantly exceeding the industry standard.

John Alphson studied economics and English at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned his BA with Honors. Attending graduate school in England, Mr. Alphson matriculated at the University of Cambridge, completing a Master of Arts in English in 1984. In 1995, John Alphson received a Master of Business Administration, also from the University of Cambridge.
