An experienced clinical psychologist based in Tennessee, Dr. John S. Auerbach functions as a Research Affiliate of the Yale School of Medicine.
For nearly 25 years, Dr. John S. Auerbach has functioned as a clinical psychologist. Dr. John S. Auerbach maintains a private psychology practice in Johnson City, Tennessee, and a professorship at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University, in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. In addition, Dr. John S. Auerbach serves as a Clinical Psychologist at the Mountain Home Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where he previously served as the Coordinator of the Post-Traumatic Stress Program. Dr. John S. Auerbach possesses extensive experience in the field of clinical psychology in his capacities as a practitioner, teacher, lecturer, and author, remaining active in this field since graduate school. Dr. John S. Auerbach earned his Ph.D. in 1988 from the State University of New York at Buffalo. From 1984 through 1985, Dr. John S. Auerbach functioned as an intern in clinical psychology at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Haven, Connecticut. Dr. John S. Auerbach has worked at the Yale School of Medicine as a Psychodiagnostic Examiner and remains a Research Affiliate with the university. Prior to opening his private practice, Dr. John S. Auerbach practiced psychology at Atwell & Cardwell, in Johnson City, Tennessee. In addition to his clinical experience, Dr. John S. Auerbach has written and lectured extensively on various aspects of psychology, including narcissism and borderline disorders. His articles have appeared in numerous professional journals and books, including Psychotherapy, Psychonalytic Psychology, the Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association, the European Journal of Personality, and the Review of General Psychoogy. Essays by Dr. John S. Auerbach have appeared in many books, including Symbolization and Desymbolization: Essays in Honor of Norbert Freedman, Scoring the Rorschach: Seven Validated Systems, and the Psychodynamic Diagnostic Manual. Dr. John S. Auerbach was also a coeditor of the critically acclaimed book Relatedness, Self-Definition, and Mental Representation: Essays in Honor of Sidney J. Blatt.
