A native and life-long resident of Chicago, John V. Karavitis possesses cross-industry expertise as a Senior Financial Analyst and has worked at companies in the energy, insurance, publishing, real estate, and pharmaceuticals industries. With both a CPA and a Master of Business Administration degree, John V. Karavitis has continued to distinguish himself in the fields of Accounting and Financial Analysis. John V. Karavitis is a member of and participates in the Illinois CPA Society. From budgeting, forecasting, variance analyses, and special projects, John V. Karavitis takes pleasure in catching sight of the diverse flora and fauna that can be found on these nature trails, along with the many varied breeds of dogs that he sees being taken on their daily walks. John V. Karavitis is curious about a large number of topics in science and philosophy, and he enjoys watching documentaries, especially those produced by the BBC. John V. Karavitis also makes time to read and is especially drawn to works of horror, philosophy, science, and science fiction, for example, those of Clifford A. Pickover, Dean Koontz, M. A. Foster, Kristine Kathryn Rusch, and Robert A. Heinlein. Heinlein’s “Have Space Suit, Will Travel” has been one of John V. Karavitis’ favorite books since childhood. John V. Karavitis also greatly enjoyed Dean Koontz’ “Frankenstein” trilogy. John V. Karavitis recommends approaching topics in philosophy through The Blackwell Philosophy and Pop Culture Series, which brings new relevancy to age-old philosophical questions by applying them to contemporary life. John V. Karavitis’ favorite quote is from Winston Churchill, “A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”
