Mr. John Pileggi is an experienced executive specializing in retail and institutional finance. Possessing more than 25 years of experience, John Pileggi currently serves as the Managing Partner of American Independence Financial Services in New York City. In this position since 2005, John Pileggi manages several top-rated mutual funds for a diverse clientele of individual and institutional investors. John Pileggi has also a led a number of corporate acquisitions for American Independence, including the acquisition of INTRUST Bank’s $500 million mutual funds advisory business. Prior to founding American Independence Financial Services, John Pileggi served dual executive roles with Mercantile Bankshares Corporation: CEO of Investment & Wealth Management and President and CEO of Mercantile Capital Advisors. John Pileggi oversaw management of discretionary assets in excess of $21 billion and more than $25 billion in assets under administration. During his two-year tenure with Mercantile Bankshares Corporation, John Pileggi executed several acquisitions, including a multibillion-dollar asset management company and a regional broker/dealer. John Pileggi also helped the company substantially reduce expenses through strategic outsourcing opportunities. Before joining Mercantile, John Pileggi served as President and CEO of PlusFunds. John Pileggi also formerly served as Chairman and President of ING Mutual Funds and CEO of ING Investment Products Distribution, where, in 1999, he oversaw ING’s entry into the U.S. mutual fund industry, growing 14 funds to 18 funds and more than $1.5 billion in assets in one year. Earlier in his career, John Pileggi served as Senior Managing Director and Member of the Board of Furman Selz LLC. John Pileggi began his career in finance with Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb. John Pileggi maintains both Series 7 and Series 24 licenses from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Currently, John Pileggi lives and works in New York City.
