new to bigsightKendall Park, New JerseyJohn Rathauser, Ph.D. is a graduate of Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. One year after obtaining his undergraduate degree, Dr.Rathauser moved to Los Angeles, where he continued his education at the California School of Professional Psychology. After being awarded a Master of Arts for his studies in clinical psychotherapy practices and assessment, John Rathauser remained at the institution to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Clinical Psychology. His dissertation involved a perceptual study of responses generated by the Rorschach test. After earning his doctorate, John Rathauser relocated to the East Coast for post-graduate studies. At the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health in New York City, John Rathauser, Ph.D. first became certified in Child Psychiatry and Child Guidance. Working as a fellow in the Clinic for Children and Adolescents, John Rathauser was trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, focusing on young adults and children. John Rathauser’s instruction included course work and seminars on the theory and technique of psychoanalysis and psycholtherapy geared toward young children, under the supervision of Lily Gondor and Burton Pfeffer, MD. After receiving this certification, John Rathauser pursued training in adult psychotherapy and psychoanalysis before completing another certification program for Analytic Group Therapy at the Postgraduate Center for Mental Health. Supervision was with Henrietta Glatzer, Ph.D., Jerome Leff, M.S.W., and Alexander Wolf, M.D. This training in psychoanalytic group therapy further consisted of course work on the theory and practice of psychotherapy with children and their families. Currently, John Rathauser, Ph.D. is in private practice in Kendall Park, New Jersey, where he offers adult, adolescent, and couples therapy. John Rathauser specializes in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, addressing a variety of issues from symptom disturbances like anxiety and depression to characterological problems.
