John Witchel launched Book Pig in January 2010, and he remains responsible for setting its long-term objectives as well as overseeing its day-to-day operations across all business functions. Prior to founding Book Pig, John Witchel served as CTO and Co-Founder of Prosper, a pioneering P2P lending company that remains a category leader. John Witchel is also the creator of BrowserCam, the first website quality assurance firm. John Witchel oversaw BrowserCam’s development for half a decade and then sold the company to Gomez in 2007. At the beginning of his career in computer science, John Witchel gained industry-wide recognition as the inventor of the FlashMob Supercomputer, which brought supercomputing to the masses and earned John Witchel a well-deserved reputation for leadership in his field. John Witchel attended Stanford University, earning his BA in Political Science. During his undergraduate years, John Witchel was a champion freestyle swimmer, and held Stanford’s 200 and 500 meter records for nearly 20 years. John Witchel continues to support his alma mater through participation in the Stanford Alumni Association, and he is involved in other nonprofit causes, including Swim Across America, 4H, and Year Up.
