Jon
Sockol

President, Vivon Corporation

Westborough, Massachusetts

For over a decade, Jon Sockol has developed properties through his Westborough, Massachusetts-based Vivon Corporation. As President, Treasurer, Director, and Secretary for the real estate development and leasing company, Sockol oversees all its enterprises. In 2006, he filed site specifications with the City of Marlborough in order to create a retail and office building on Northboro Road. The public received an opportunity to review these plans, and after four months, the city and its planning board approved Jon Sockol’s proposal. However, an abandoned building stood in the location of Sockol’s new development, so he applied for and obtained a demolition permit. In 2008, the City of Marlborough granted him a Commercial New Permit that allowed him to commence work on the two-story, 46×74 ft. office building. The following year, Jon Sockol obtained a permanent Certificate of Occupancy, certifying its compliance with all applicable building codes and deeming it safe. Previously, Sockol was involved with the development of 5,760-square-foot, one-story building also located on Northboro Road in Marlborough.

Prior to starting Vivon Corporation, Jon Sockol studied business administration at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he graduated cum laude before matriculating at Bentley University and earning his Master of Science in Accounting. In the early 1990s, Sockol passed the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination on his first attempt and worked as a registered CPA. He formerly belonged to the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, Inc., and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

In 1993, Jon Sockol founded Our Future Learning Center, a high end early educational program for children. He operated this company for 18 years until he recently sold it in August of 2011.

In 2012, Jon Sockol founded Adrian LLC, a realestate development company. Jon Sockol is currently involved in realestate development ventures.

  • Interview with Jon Sockol: Part One, Jon Sockol
    October, 2011
An accomplished entrepreneur in the field of real estate development and leasing, Jon Sockol presently devotes the bulk of his time and energy to Vivon Corporation, a Westborough, Massachusetts-based enterprise he founded more than a decade ago. Prior to establishing Vivon Corporation, Mr. Sockol obtained licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), garnering in the process extensive knowledge of financial business management. He joins us today to discuss Vivon Corporation and what drew him toward a career in the commercial real estate sector.

Q: Thanks for taking time out of your schedule to be here today. You lead quite a busy life. Your role at Vivon Corporation entails a great deal of responsibility, right?

A: It does indeed. After I incorporated the company in 2000, I quickly realized the importance of familiarizing myself with all aspects of running the business. To this end, I opted to undertake directorial, secretarial, and fiscal appropriation duties in conjunction with my work as President. In my mind, a capable leader needs to maintain complete involvement with employees and clientele on a daily basis. Although the demands of my positions can take a toll on my personal life, I certainly enjoy the challenges that come along with my job. Running your own business isn’t easy, but it can be incredibly gratifying.

Q: Can you tell us a bit about what inspired you to form Vivon Corporation?

A: I’ve always been interested in how real estate development influences the vitality and growth of my local community. Like so many other Massachusetts natives and current residents, I feel extremely lucky to make my home in such a beautiful, historic part of the country. As a real estate development professional working in Westborough and the neighboring hamlet of Marlborough, I feel that I hold a personal obligation regarding the preservation of a town’s historical identity. When Vivon Corporation enters into a new construction contract, I go out of my way to ensure that the project will make a positive contribution to the city where it takes place, both aesthetically and economically.
