Josh Swiller is a NY-based writer and teacher and is currently promoting the upcoming release of The Unheard: A Memoir of Deafness and Africa, a book he wrote based on his two years in the Peace Corps in Zambia. Legally deaf since the age of four, Josh learned to communicate through sign language and lip-reading. The Unheard chronicles his struggle to reconcile his deafness amid harsh struggle in a remote African village.

Josh is a graduate of Yale University and in addition to his time in the Corps, he has been a forest ranger in the California Redwoods, Zen monk, raw food chef, journalist, and teacher. Prior to devoting his full energy to writing, Josh worked as a hospice social worker in Brooklyn.
