Since 1987, Juan Dominguez has served the Los Angeles, California, community and beyond through his law firm, The Law Offices of Juan Dominguez Named a Thomson Reuters’ Super Lawyer for four consecutive years (2006-2009), Juan Dominguez has maintained a strong reputation in legal circles as a talented lawyer and has obtained more than $200 million for injured clients over the course of his career. I caught up with Juan Dominguez earlier this week to discuss some of his professional ventures.
Q. What makes a complete lawyer? What kind of outside activities do you complement your practice with?
A. A good attorney is never truly on his own. Professional organizations are the best way to network and to learn. I personally belong to the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association, and the California Consumer Attorneys Association. Another critical aspect of being a lawyer is not losing sight of the people involved in the process. One of the ways I do that is by contributing to charities. For instance, I started the Juan J. Dominguez Scholarship Fund and I also sponsor a child in Guatemala and another in the Dominican Republic through Children International.
Q. What advice do you give clients who come to you with personal injury cases?
A. Of foremost importance is the client’s own health. I advise my clients to follow their doctor’s orders to the letter and also to follow my advice on the best course of action for their case. Next is record keeping. In order to secure the maximum compensation for my clients, we need to ensure that we get the best medical documentation of their injuries from top doctors and experts. I strongly advise all of my clients not to miss their doctor appointments since the medical documentation obtained from these appointments is crucial for the best outcome of their case.
Q. What kinds of cases do you most often see?
A. We work with clients who suffer from all types of personal injury cases, including those who get hurt on the job. Some specific areas that we work in include bus accidents, truck accidents, dog bites, slip-and-fall accidents, bicycle accidents, pedestrian accidents, and all types of automobile accidents.
