A native of Virginia, Julie Luhrsen began her legal career working as a products liability paralegal at a prominent law firm in Richmond. After deciding to become an attorney herself, Julie Luhrsen attended the University of Richmond T. C. Williams School of Law, where she served as a student advisor, research assistant, and a member of the McNeill Law Honor Society. For her academic excellence, the law school awarded her a Juris Doctor cum laude, named her to the school’s Dean’s list, and ranked her fourth in her class. Julie Luhrsen’s legal career has involved extensive practical experience. Following law school, she served on active duty with the Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps for the U.S. Army, where she quickly gained invaluable trial experience. During the course of her eight-year active duty career, she prosecuted and later defended soldiers facing criminal charges at military courts-martial. She later served as the Post Judge Advocate at The Judge Advocate General Legal Center and School in Charlottesville. After leaving active duty and moving to Florida to enter private practice, she continued her military service in the U.S. Army Reserves, serving as the Command Judge Advocate with the 32nd Transportation Group in Tampa, Florida. Licensed to practice in Florida, Virginia, and North Carolina, Julie Luhrsen has practiced exclusively on behalf of injured Floridians since 1999. Luhrsen Law Group, based in Sarasota, Florida, represents clients from throughout Florida who have been injured at the hand of negligent drivers, drunk drivers, and other wrongdoers. For her legal work supporting the relief efforts after Hurricane Andrew, the American Bar Association awarded Julie Luhrsen its Legal Assistance for Military Personal (LAMP) Legal Assistance Distinguished Service Award. Today, she serves as a Trustee of The Out-of-Door Academy, a coeducational college preparatory school located in Sarasota, Florida. Since 2006, she has also been a Trustee (and since 2010, Vice-Chair) of Forty Carrots Family, an organization devoted to strengthening families through child education and parenting support. Julie Luhrsen is also a member of the Florida Justice Association and Florida Association of Women Lawyers (FAWL). She resides in Sarasota with her husband and two children.
