An attorney and foreign language teacher, Karen Grun brings a commitment to excellence to her various professions. As a college undergraduate, Karen Grun studied several foreign languages, including French and Spanish, and frequently qualified for her school’s Dean’s List. A member of the Phi Sigma Iota International Foreign Language Honor Society, Karen Grun graduated cum laude from college with a Bachelor of Arts degree in May 1978. In addition, Karen Grun earned a State Teaching Certificate for French and Spanish spent time abroad at the Sorbonne in Paris, where she gained her Diplôme Semestriel. Karen Grun later enrolled in law school and began to lay the foundations for her legal profession. After graduating with a J.D. in 1982, Karen Grun passed the bar examination. Over the course of her legal career, Karen Grun has served as In-House Labor Counsel to roughly 60 health care facilities, in which she worked on disciplinary claims, labor arbitrations, and proceedings of the Unemployment Insurance Board and the National Labor Board. Karen Grun also participated in litigation before the State Supreme Court and various federal courts. Subsequently, Karen Grun served as an administrative law judge and has presided over hearings. As Court Hearing Officer, Karen Grun handled a docket of 50 to 60 cases, which she assessed and ruled on according to judicial protocol. In her roles as an educator, Karen Grun taught foreign languages at elementary, middle, and high school levels. As a teacher of French and Spanish, Karen Grun developed curriculum and supervised other professionals in her department. Karen Grun has also taught Hebrew as an enrichment course to elementary school students.
