A life full of international travel has afforded Karl Voglmayr experiences far from the mundane. From skiing the Austrian slopes to tasting French champagne, Karl Voglmayr relishes any excuse to voyage the globe. The child of Australian and Austrian parents, Karl Voglmayr possessed a keen sense of internationalism from an early age. With places like South Africa, Chile, Italy, Liechtenstein, England, and Fiji already planted firmly under his travel belt, Karl Voglmayr continues to seek new places of interest around the world. Karl Voglmayr’s father taught his six-year-old son the nuances of snow skiing while the family lived in State College, Pennsylvania. Today, Karl Voglmayr uses skiing as a vehicle for travel, visiting ski resorts in Europe, South America, Australia, and North America. Karl Voglmayr balances his love of skiing with his passion for tennis, a sport he has played for the past seven years. Karl Voglmayr splits his tennis efforts between two athletic organizations, enjoying the St. Albans Tennis Club during the summer season and the Carter Barron Tennis Center in the winter-spring months. In addition to playing tennis in the summer months, Karl Voglmayr fishes for stripers and rockfish in his MayCraft at Fishing Creek. Karl Voglmayr founded The Vineyard at Fishing Creek in Maryland, where he enjoys winemaking and angling. With 200 plants, Karl Voglmayr produced almost 100 gallons of Cabernet grape varietals. Operating under the name Voglmayr Family Wine, Karl Voglmayr distributes bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Vinification is second to Karl Voglmayr’s primary business, Washington Landmark Construction, where he oversees all residential remodeling projects as the company’s Manager and Owner.
