IvyWise eases the stress involved in applying for graduate school.

New York, New York

Since 1998, IvyWise has provided students of all ages with unparalleled admissions counseling. The educational guidance offered by the expert counselors at IvyWise helps high school students seeking college admission but includes all age and education levels from pre-K programs through graduate programs such as law school and medical school. IvyWise helps students find the schools that will be a good fit for them and then guides them through the application processes for those schools. For younger students, parents can utilize IvyWise to identify early childhood education programs suited to both their student and their parenting philosophies. In addition to explaining the admissions process, IvyWise can provide parents with assistance throughout the application process. As students progress through their academic careers, IvyWise can aid elementary and middle school children with the school selection and application processes. Older students entering secondary school can continue to benefit from IvyWise, which provides information about and guidance for numerous school options, including private high schools and boarding schools, in New York City and throughout the world. IvyWise counselors, the majority of whom have firsthand experience in selective admissions at the academic level for which they are counseling, understand the overwhelming and competitive educational landscape. IvyWise works one-on-one with students and parents to create a strategic plan of action and helps students discover and apply to the schools that are the best academic and social fits for them.

Applying to and attending college is a significant milestone in a student’s life, and IvyWise leads families in planning the path to the schools that will be a good fit for a student. During the 90-minute Initial Consultation, an IvyWise counselor will meet with a student and his or her parents to create a personalized, strategic plan, including a testing schedule, course recommendations, extracurricular activities, summer experiences, internships, and community service. The counselor will also answer questions about the college admissions process and help the student understand the college options available given his or her academic, testing, and extracurricular record, as well as his or her personal interests. Guidance programs can start as early as ninth grade and are available to students throughout the four years of high school. An IvyWise counselor can help a student select courses to ensure a challenging yet appropriate curriculum, solve academic problems, facilitate and improve teacher relationships, explore his or her interests, learn how to make an impact in the school and local community, refine and update academic and personal goals, and develop and maintain the confidence to meet these goals. When it becomes time for a student to apply to college, IvyWise can guide him or her through all aspects of college research and counseling, including college essay brainstorming and feedback, creating a balanced list of schools, preparing a resume that fully represents the best and most accurate representation of the student, preparing for interviews, developing an application strategy, identifying who will write letters of recommendation, and ensuring that the student fills out every application in its entirety and on time.

For students who want to pursue a postgraduate education, IvyWise’s Graduate School division helps by identifying graduate schools that will be a good academic and social fit, providing feedback on and suggesting prerequisite coursework, identifying jobs and internships that are relevant to a student’s career goals, refining resumes and portfolios, preparing for school visits and interviews, and addressing special circumstances within the application, all while providing guidance and feedback throughout the application process.

IvyWise’s counseling and tutoring specialists in all professional and academic areas customize a strategic plan to guide each student through the admissions process. Furthermore, families can contact IvyWise for world-class tutoring in preparation for the PSAT, SSAT, ISEE, SAT, SAT Subject Tests, ACT, TOEFL, and Advanced Placement (AP) exams, as well as academic subject tutoring and tutoring for IB and A-level subject areas. IvyWise also provides pro bono services for qualifying students.
