About LaFon Jantz

As her husband describes her, LaFon Jantz is an amazing dynamo of optimism and energy. As founders of the Center for Counseling and Health Resources, LaFon Jantz, and her husband Dr. Gregory L. Jantz, established the treatment facility shortly after marrying, while he pursued his doctorate. The couple met while attending Seattle Pacific University, where LaFon Jantz received her degree in business with an emphasis in marketing. Founded in 1891, Seattle Pacific University has a reputation for excellence in higher learning in the context of education in a Christian setting.

A mother of two boys, LaFon Jantz volunteers as a prayer coordinator at the Cedar Park Christian School. As part of an extension of the Moms in Touch International program, she coordinates weekly prayer meetings for mothers to gather and pray for the success and well being of their children, and the schools they attend. LaFon Jantz serves as the Field Encourager and RFI Assistant in King County for the Moms in Touch Washington State Support Team.
LaFon Jantz traveled to Nicaragua as part of the Forward Edge International ministry, providing food and medical supplies, rebuilding infrastructures, and ministering to devastated communities. A Christian aid organization, Forward Edge mobilizes hundreds of volunteers to provide health care support and disaster relief to more than 35 nations.

As members of the Christian Faith Center, Seattle’s largest congregation, LaFon Jantz, and her husband, recently spoke at the Northwest Ministry Conference. Addressing issues facing married couples that actively participate in ministering to their communities, LaFon Jantz and her husband discussed how they maintain marital joy in their busy lives.

In 1984, when her two oldest children entered junior high school, Fern Nichols of British Columbia felt an overwhelming concern that the vulgar language, immoral values, and peer pressure they would face could undermine their faith. She began praying and asked God to provide another mother to pray with her. He did. That event marked the beginning of Moms In Touch International, which now includes groups in every state and more than 130 different countries with an official hierarchy.

LaFon Jantz , a Health Counselor, serves as Region 3 Field Encourager and Washington State Support Team RFI Assistant. In this capacity, LaFon Jantz joins more than 400 Coordinators, 28 State Coordinators, 7 Regional Directors, 12 Country Coordinators, and 2 International Country Coordinators, as well as a legion of mothers praying for 11,000 schools in the United States alone.

From its 1984 beginnings, Moms In Touch International grew exponentially. By 1987, the first Moms In Touch International Booklet came out, and the group held a retreat attended by 35 women the following year. Now, Moms In Touch International includes home-schooling groups as well as groups supporting churches, people with special needs, the military, colleges, particular languages, and a prison ministry. The organization also includes an offshoot, Grandmothers In Touch.

The Moms In Touch International Booklet has undergone translations into 48 languages, with several more pending. In addition to Chinese, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese, French, and Japanese, the publication also has become available in Nepali, Tuva, Tagalog, and Braille. On its website, MomsInTouch.org, the nonprofit organization provides additional resources, including brochures, DVDs, a six-week prayer curriculum, and a monthly newsletter. The site also offers several books by Fern Nichols, including Silver Medallion Award winner Every Child Needs a Praying Mom.

The purpose of Moms In Touch International has not wavered since its inception. Members pray that their children “will receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, then stand boldly in their faith.” They also pray for teachers and staff in general, and that they and their students accept Jesus Christ into their hearts. The mothers pray for schools to embrace high moral standards and Biblical values, as well. Overall, Moms In Touch International seeks to encourage and support schools in a positive manner.
