Over the course of his career, attorney Lance Stelzer has enjoyed his status as one of the top trial lawyers in the Greater Miami-Dade metropolitan region, earning accolades from clients and colleagues. Following graduation with honors from the University of Florida’s Fredric G. Levin College of Law in 1973, Lance Stelzer remained at his alma mater as an Instructor of Law, teaching courses in legal research and writing.

Passing the Florida Bar Examination in that same year, Lance Stelzer subsequently became Assistant Attorney General, in which capacity he handled criminal appeals to federal and state courts, among other responsibilities. Lance Stelzer next accepted a position as Assistant State Attorney for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court of Florida and spent five years fulfilling a variety of roles, including Division Chief of two separate felony divisions. In 1980, Lance Stelzer founded the Law Offices of Lance R. Stelzer, P.A. in downtown Miami, where he maintains a broad specialization in matters of civil litigation and criminal defense.

Among his many areas of expertise, Lance Stelzer has navigated clients through the complexities of civil rights law, the legality of arrest, necessary probable cause for arrest, and more. Highly accomplished in his field, Lance Stelzer holds distinction as the first attorney to successfully prosecute a case in which a criminal defendant was convicted based upon a fingerprint lifted from the victim, as well as another case where the conviction was based on a bite mark on the deceased. Lance Stelzer additionally obtained a substantial judgment in a landmark medical malpractice case in 2003, where a surgeon left a towel inside a patient during an operation. He has testified as an expert witness in both state and federal courts in the areas of probable cause for arrest, criminal behavior, and attorney fees.

A longtime member of The Florida Bar, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Lance Stelzer remains an active contributor to legal organizations and administrative bodies in Miami-Dade County and beyond, including the Dade County Pretrial Intervention Program, the Florida Department of Legal Affairs, and the Miami-Dade County Nuisance Abatement Board. He earned admittance to the State Bar of California in 1974. Lance Stelzer resides and works in Miami.
