Former Montclair, California, Mayor Larry Rhinehart has held several high-profile positions in public service and the technology and manufacturing sectors. Upon graduating from California State University, Los Angeles, with a Bachelor of Science, Larry Rhinehart went on to serve for over a decade in public office with the City of Montclair. Elected to the Montclair City Council in 1984, Larry Rhinehart served his constituents for two years before he was selected to a first term as Mayor. Larry Rhinehart went on to two more terms as Mayor of Montclair. Before joining the city council, Larry Rhinehart sat on the Montclair Planning Commission Board for four years and the Montclair Community Action Committee for three. In 1986, Larry Rhinehart was appointed Chair of the City of Montclair Redevelopment Agency, which he officiated until 1995. In addition to his role as the Mayor of Montclair, Larry Rhinehart sat on the board of the San Bernardino Associated Governments from 1987 to 1995, including one year as President of the organization. A former board member of the League of California Cities Board of Directors, Larry Rhinehart represented the Inland Empire Division cities, including Montclair. From 1992 to 1995, Larry Rhinehart functioned as a regional council member of the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), acting for the cities of Montclair, Rancho Cucamonga, and Upland. As a member of SCAG, Larry Rhinehart also chaired the Transportation and Communications Policy Committee. Larry Rhinehart has worked for a number of high-profile technology firms and institutions over the years, including General Dynamics’ Data Systems Division, Northrop (now Northrop Grumman) Corporation’s B-2 Division, and the South Coast Air Quality Management District. Currently, Larry Rhinehart owns and operates his government relations firm Larry Rhinehart and Associates, overseeing government relations consulting for a number of clients including Waste Management of Upland, California.
